We have adopted a 6 yr. little girl from the foster care system. This is our 3rd week, and she is ODD; arguing, jealous, sneaky and steals. It feels like the more we talk to her, the more she doesn't care. Her meltdowns & anger make it hard to get close to her. We have 2 other children by birth. I thought I could handle this, but now I'm not sure. Has anyone been in the same place I am at.....I love her, but feel like the damage that was done to her by her birthmother may not be fixable. All I know to do is pray & not give up, but mentally I am exhausted.

I don't know much about reactive detachment disorder but one day he'll move out of the house and eventually feel more comfortable about his situation.

Two of my sons have RAD. Both have attached, which is a miracle. One took 10 years to get there. Even then, there are many trust issues to be addressed, including being able to trust someone new, neither has been able to do that yet. 'Bag of Rocks' is by far the best desciption I have ever read of the terrible dilema the RAD child faces. Thank you.

I really like the whole point of this blog and what you're trying to do. I really think that it is really good for people looking to adopt. I know that if my fiance and I cannot conceive adoption is our route so I have been reading a bit of your blog lately to get an idea and I just wanted to say its awesome.

Pajama Mommy's last blog post..Tostito’s Recipes and Contest!
