I am very glad to see that another parent of a girlscout feels the same as I do about this issue. My daughter and I recently attened a girlscout Thinkingday event at which one troop was handing out mini bibles as their swap.Which I did not feel was appropriate and when my daughter did not want to except it we recieved looks and snickers about it.At this time my 9yr old wanted to take the bible just to stop the looks from the other girls and leaders. She also wanted to explain that she owns several bibles which is why she did not want to accept theirs.I had to explain to her that if she wanted to she could explain herself but that she did not need to that in this country we as a people do not need to explain anything about our regious preferences.I feel that scouting events are not the place to push ones religous beliefs onto someone else.
Reading your article I have realized I too do not want my children to blindly follow an adults beliefs, no matter what their position of athurity may be, including my own.
Thank you so much for sharing this event in your life.

Great Article. That you were so understanding is truly great. It is great that the Girl Scouts don't promote a specific religion. Yes, we should not impose our beliefs on others. If your daughter wanted to say o my gosh instead of o my god that would be great if she chose that but not to be told she had to.
