Eight Facts About My Adoption JourneyKathy over at My Crazy Life tagged us. The tag is that we have to post eight random facts about ourselves. Since this is an adoption blog, I’ll keep mine related to that. I was also tagged at my unschooling blog, if you’re interested in reading it. 1. Adoption is a big part of my life, even before my children came into it. My parents adopted my brother from foster care when he was five years old. I remember being very excited to have a sibling (I was eight at the time). 2. One of my long time friends (30+ years) was adopted when she was an infant. My husband & I helped her locate her birth family and hosted their reunion in our back yard. 3. We adopted siblings; a boy and two girls. At the time we finalized they were 5, 8 & 11. We had always known we wanted more than one but we assumed we would adopt one at a time over a couple of years. A caseworker suggested siblings and we thought it was a great idea. 4. Adopting my children and becoming a mother, has been the most life altering experience I’ve ever had. I’ve learned so much from them and feel privileged to be part of their lives. 5. I wrote an article on homeschooling and adoption for A TO Z: Homes Cool. Taking my children (actually my daughters) out of school was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. 6. I created Forever Parents in 2002 after being quite frustrated with the lack of online support for parents who’ve adopted, and those going through the process. It started as on the msn groups and then moved to ezboard. It recently expanded to include this blog and two adoption shops. 7. We celebrate our “family day” (the day we finalized) each year by doing something fun as a family. Each year it’s been something different. This past year we went to the movies to see Ghost Rider and another year we went to Universal Studios. 8. My favorite adoption books are Adopting the Hurt Child There you have it. Thanks for sharing those facts, and for mentioning my blog
I actually took down the post about my infertility group, before I read your post, but I’ll be putting up a new one with link again. I haven’t been able to get the Yahoo Groups box, that you click, to come up right on my post.
Anyway, thanks for playing! Thanks for your blog too…it is an awesome blog!
Hey Kathy…Thanks for tagging me.
I’ll take out the link to your group until you post it back up or you could also post the link here, in a comment.
