The agency will assume that you want the infant or child they assign to you. However, if you decide that you want to adopt a different child, it could take several additional months for a new referral. The exception to this is if there is a mistake in the sex, age or health of the kid who is referred to you, compared to your actual request. If looking to adopt an older child, the wait time is generally less. If you are adopting for your second time, you must wait a full year after the first adoption is completed before you can submit a new dossier. If couples are married and are in their first marriage, they must be married at least 2 years before they can go through the adoption process. However, if one of the parents has previously been married, the couple International adoptions are on the rise, especially China adoptions. Whether you are looking to adopt an infant or an older child, you will find what you are looking for in China. So before you start to think that all hope is lost in adopting the child of your dreams, be sure to consider China.
